28 April 2011 - Vietnam/Cambodia Border
The recent conflict between Thailand and Cambodia has taken place on the
border between the two countries in two different locations. At the
weekend the friction was in northwest Cambodia around the Ta Muen Thom
temple, some 50-70kms northwest of Banteay Chhmar temple. This is very
far from both Siem Reap and Battambang and will not affect any tourists
going to those centers.
There was conflict at the larger World Heritage temple of Preah Vihea,
in northern Cambodia, and it remains to be seen how long this conflict
will continue. Again this will not cause problems for our tourists
unless they plan to go to Preah Vihear temple or the northern town of
Anlong Veng. If anyone is planning that, then we would suggest they
don’t go at this time, as the two locations are too close to the border.

general manager of the Kathmandu airport, says that of those
who died, 12 were German tourists, two Australian and two
Nepalese tourists, as well as two of the three Nepalese crew
members. One of the pilots survived. The
identity of one passenger is not yet known. Our sincere

24 June 2008 - Tibet
It gives us great pleasure to announce
that the Tibet borders have re-opened bringing much needed funds back into the country. At this point, no
additional travel restrictions have been imposed and all tours are now
running as normal. Contrary to some newspaper reports, additional
restrictions have not been imposed . Some restrictions which were in
place prior tot he border clamp down have been modified. The restrictions are as follows:-
1) All tourists
still require a travel permit for Tibet, which has
always been the case
2) Travel
permits take about 2-3 weeks to obtain, which has always
been the case
3) Tibet visa
fees for US Nationals cost more than other Nationals,
which has been the case since the start of 2008
4)
Restrictions have been modified as they relate to
group travel in that no person may travel on their own,
and any group may not consist of nationals from more
than 3 countries. As this can affect fixed departure
tours it means that any FD group will be split e.g. into
two groups if it consists of nationals from more than 3
countries.
