After being told by many agents that blind people cannot climb Kilimanjaro, a young lady read our article online on http://www.kiliadventures.com/ about our blind group who broke the world record in 2009. It is her dream to climb Kilimanjaro but her sighted companion that normally treks with her is not available, and so, we are looking for someone to join her. The route will be via the Rongai in 2012, probably over 8 or 9 days - so if fulfilling someone's dream is yours too, and climbing Kili is on your list of to do's or do again, please email us.
By the same token - if this is something you would like to be a sponsor for, please email us.
GLOBAL RESCUE INSURANCE: As of 1 December 2011 we have entered an affinity agreement with Global Rescue. If you have any questions on what this entails, please let us know.
GROUPS TO JOIN
If you are looking for people to join you or want to join a group, let us know and we will list it here.
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED TOP OF PAGE
1) Which is the better part of the Amazon to go to - Iquitos or Puerto Maldonado? This depends on what you want to see and also your budget. If you are wanting to see the floating villages and pink dolphins, Iquitos is a better option, though the cost is that much higher. If you are wanting canopy tours and parakeets etc, then Puerto Maldonado and as an add on after Cuzco, it is much cheaper than Iquitos
The festival for 2012 is to fall on the 4th June 2012. This months Saga Dawa Special
3) Which is more difficult, Torres del Paine Trek or the Inca Trail? They are two very different treks. The Inca Trial (Peru) ascends to high altitude and has more ascents and descents. Along the route you will see many ancient ruins. Torres del Paine (Chile or Argentina) has a stunning beauty of its own and is done in the Torres Del Paine National park. The altitude is much lower. This does not mean that there are not hard days of trekking as there are. On this route, your scenery is all flora and fauna and spectacular high granite peaks.
