Itinerary
Day 1. LIMA
Arrival Lima, reception at
the airport and transfer to your hotel, the Santa Cruz/Ferre or similar.
Day 2.
LIMA (B)
After breakfast, a half day guided visit of colonial and modern Lima,
including the cathedral, the main square, which still houses the
original bronze fountain built in 1650, and the San Francisco Convent
and its catacombs. Known as the city of the kings, Lima was founded in
1535 and in 1991 UNESCO declared it a world heritage site. The tour will
include a visit to the residential areas of San Isidro and Miraflores.
Return to your hotel.
Free afternoon at leisure.
Day 3.
LIMA - CUZCO (B)
After breakfast, early
morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Cuzco, the ancient
Inca capital of the Incas. After the one hour flight, reception and
transfer to your hotel, the Los Andes or similar. Free morning.
In the afternoon, a group guided tour
of Cuzco including the Cathedral, Qoricancha temple, the Inca fortress
of Sacsayhuaman overlooking Cuzco, Qenko and Puka Pukara. Return to the
hotel.
Day 4.
SACRED VALLEY-PISAC-OLLANTAYTAMBO
(B & L)
Full-day excursion to the beautiful
Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, situated between Pisac and
Ollantaytambo. Visit the village of Pisac, founded during colonial
times, and set at the foot of a hill crowned by the remains of an
ancient Inca city. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Indians barter
their products in the main square and artisans from around the area sell
their woven alpaca wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourds, antique
reproductions, jewellery, etc. After a buffet lunch, a visit to
Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that was not defeated by the Spanish
with an opportunity to explore the ruins which tower above. Return to
Cuzco and your
hotel.
Day 5.
CUZCO - MACHU PICCHU (B)
Early morning 3 ½ hour
train journey to Aguas Calientes. Arrival to Aguas Calientes and
boarding of the bus for the short ride up to Machu Picchu, the ancient
Inca citadel.
A guided tour of Machu Picchu, the
most spectacular ancient city in the world. Built by the Inca
Pachacutec, and comprising stone blocks fitted with masterful precision,
Machu Picchu harmoniously blends into the mountain landscape. This
fabulous city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square,
all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces
cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture.
Accommodation in Aguas Calientes.
Day 6.
MACHU PICCHU – CUZCO (B)
Free day. (If you wish to
return to Machu Picchu, you must pay for your entrance tickets). Return
on the afternoon train to Cuzco. Reception and transfer to your hotel.
Day 7. CUZCO - PUNO
(B &
L)
Departure by
tourist bus to Puno visiting en route several Inca ruins and the remains
of the great Viracocha temple, Raqchi. We shall also stop at the highest
point along the way, La Raya before arriving to Puno and transferring to
your hotel for overnight accommodation.
Day 8. LAKE TITICACA
(B & L)
After breakfast, transfer to the port
for the boat trip on Lake Titicaca to the reed islands of Uros. A visit
to the Aymara island of Taquile, lunch on the islands cooked and served
by the island inhabitants, before returning in the afternoon to Puno.
Overnight accommodation.
Day 9: PUNO - LIMA (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the
airport for the flight to Lima and your connecting flight home.

nature of hotels and the travel industry, hotels are secured
upon payment in full. In the event that prices at the above
mentioned hotels increase prior to full payment, we will
endeavour to secure hotels that fall within the quote given
above. However, in the event that we are not able to secure
hotels within the quote range, the difference will be passed on
to the client.
