Overview of Chilean Lakes Self Drive Tour
Itinerary
Day 1 Temuco – Pucón (112 km / 70 mi)
Pick up your car at the airport or city office in
Temuco. Your destination for today will be Pucón,
nestled at the eastern end of the Lake Villarrica
and surrounded by extensive areas of native forests
and impressive mountains. Overnight in or close to
Pucón.
Day 2 Pucón
Today you will have time to explore the attractive
natural surroundings of Pucón. Hike in the national
parks and reserves, see nearby waterfalls and enjoy
a relaxing bath in one of the numerous hot springs.
Overnight in or close to Pucón. (Breakfast)
Day 3 Pucón – Huilo Huilo Reserve (155 km / 91 mi)
Today you will leave the northern part of the Lake
District. You will have time to choose one of the
several excursions into national parks or to hot
springs. In the afternoon you will arrive at the
private 60.000 hectare / 148.260 acres reserve of
Huilo Huilo. Overnight in Huilo Huilo. (Breakfast)
Day 4 Huilo Huilo Reserve
After breakfast you will start to explore some of
the many attractions of the reserve; you will be
able to walk the trails through the forest and up
the Choshuenco Volcano, visit the falls of Huilo
Huilo, enjoy a canopy excursion through the native
forest or just relax on the beach of Puerto Fuy.

Day 5 Huilo Huilo - Petrohué (240 km / 149 mi)
Drive from Huilo Huilo to the Vicente Pérez Rosales
National Park, the oldest national park in Chile.
After entering the park you will arrive at the falls
of Petrohué and then reach the emerald Lake Todos
los Santos. Overnight in the National Park in hotel
Petrohué. (Breakfast)
Day 6 Petrohué
The Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park offers
several attractive hiking trails, whitewater rafting
and canoeing. An excursion to the other side of the
Todos los Santos Lake to Peulla by catamaran is
another option. Overnight in Petrohue. (Breakfast)
Day 7 Petrohué - Puerto Montt (90 km / 56 mi)
After breakfast you will drive to the airport El
Tepual or downtown Puerto Montt to return your
vehicle. (Breakfast)

In Chile car rental companies charge an
additional airport service fee (Hertz rate: appr. USD 6.00 per
day) at the time of vehicle pickup at the airport. This service
charge is not included in the rates above, it has to be paid
upon returning the car.

personal nature such as Bar Bill, Laundry, Telephone, and etc.
Mandatory
Personal Medical & Travel Insurance.
Vehicle Insurance
coverage for personal injuries to driver or passengers. Optional
coverage may be offered locally for an additional fee.
Gasoline or Diesel. Client is advised to return the vehicle with
a full fuel tank and to retain copies of gas receipts.
Local toll, highway fees, or travel stickers required by local
authorities.
Road Tax paid locally. Applies to rentals commencing in
Santiago.
*Note that
hotels are booked and require payment within 48 hours.
Because of the
nature of hotels and the travel industry, hotels are secured
upon payment in full. In the event that prices at the above
mentioned hotels increase prior to full payment, we will
endeavour to secure hotels that fall within the quote given
above. However, in the event that we are not able to secure
hotels within the quote range, the difference will be passed on
to the client.
