Lisbon
Arrival at Lisbon
airport. Transfer to the hotel in Lisbon. A city set on seven hills,
as the legend tells, Lisbon is the kind of place where you can sit
at street cafes and watch the world go by. But for the eager there
are also plenty of cultural activities. In addition to architectural

Day 2 – Lisbon
Full day tour of Lisbon
including Cristo Rei, Jeronimos Monastery and St Antonio Church. The
Hieronymites Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) is located in the
Belém district of Lisbon, Portugal. This magnificent monastery can
be considered one of the most prominent monuments in Lisbon and is
certainly one of the most successful achievements of the Manueline
style. In 1983 it was classified by the UNESCO, with nearby Torre de
Belém, as a World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel
Day 3 – Lisbon/ Mafra/
Fátima
Departure from Lisbon to
Mafra, visit and continuation to Santarem. Visit of the Church of
the Holy Miracle.
The main attraction of
the Church of the Holy Miracle is, of course, the Eucharistic
Miracle of Santarem. The host is enshrined in its miraculous crystal
pyx in a silver monstrance and placed on display atop a tabernacle.
Other notable features of the church are four paintings that depict
the miracle and 16th-century glazed tiles. Arrival at Fatima. Dinner

Day 4 – Fatima
Morning at leisure in
Fatima. Make sure you visit Chapel of the Apparitions and The
Basilica - Begun in 1928 and consecrated on 7 October 1953; its 15
altars are dedicated to the 15 mysteries of the Rosary. The painting
above the high altar depicts the Message of Our Lady to the little
shepherds, prepared by the Angel of Portugal, through their
encounter with Christ in the Eucharist. Scenes of the apparitions
are represented in stained glass, as well as invocations from the
Litany of Our Lady. The tombs of Francisco and Jacinta are in the
Basilica. In the afternoon visit of Batalha and Alcobaça
monasteries. Founded by the first Portuguese king in 1153, the
Cistercian Alcobaça Monastery (Portuguese: Mosteiro de Santa Maria
de Alcobaça) was one of the richest and most prestigious monasteries
in medieval Europe. Its church was the first building in Portugal to
adopt the Gothic style and was (and still is!) the largest church in
the country. Overnight in Fatima.

Salamanca
Departure from Fatima to
Coimbra. Highlights: the Old Cathedral, the Church of St. James (Igreja
de Santiago) and the Santa Cruz Monastery. Pass through Viseu and
Guarda and arrival at Salamanca – dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 – Salamanca/
Avila
Top tourist attractions
and landmarks in Salamanca include the magnificent Universidad
Pontificia - a beautiful Baroque-style university, with many
historic buildings, different faculties and seasonal events;
Universidad de Salamanca - the Salamanca University, an academic
institution for almost 800 years, with over 35,000 students; Casa de
Santa Teresa de Jesús - once the residence of Santa Teresa de Jesús,
a famous local nun; Casa de las Conchas - an unusual 13th-century
building, with Gothic-style architecture and a façade covered in sea
shells; and Las Murallas - Salamanca's 12th-century 'City Walls', a
vivid reminder of the area's rich Roman heritage. Departure to
Avila. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Avila.
Day 7 – Avila/ Madrid
Early morning departure
to Madrid. Arrival and tour in Madrid. This City offers noteworthy
religious sites, particularly the huge, modern, 20th-century
Almudena Cathedral, which is Neo-Gothic in its design and contains
chapels and statues by contemporary artists in a variety of artistic
styles, from historical to Pop-Art. The crypt is built in a
Neo-Romanesque style and is home to a 16th-century picture of the
Virgen de la Almudena. Overnight in Madrid

Departure from Madrid to
Burgos – visit and overnight at the hotel. The main attraction in
this town is the beautiful cathedral in the center of the city. It
is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is famous for its vast size and

Day 9 – Burgos/
Lourdes
Departure from Burgos to

Lourdes.
On 11 February 1858, a
14-year-old local girl, Bernadette Soubirous, claimed a beautiful
lady appeared to her in the remote Grotto of Massabielle. The lady
later identified herself as "the Immaculate Conception" and the
faithful believe her to be the Blessed Virgin Mary. The lady
appeared 18 times, and by 1859 thousands of pilgrims were visiting
Lourdes. A statue of Our Lady of Lourdes was erected at the site in

Since the apparitions,
Lourdes has become one of the world's leading Catholic Marian
shrines and the number of visitors grows each year.
