IN THE NEWS

Chile Earthquake: At 3:34 am local time, today, February 27th, a devastating magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck Chile. Thousands of people have been displaced from their homes. Fortunately, none of our clients in Chile have been affected and all are safe and in good spirits. The bulk of the tourist areas were unaffected by the quake, although climbers as far afield as Aconcagua, heading for summit, felt the tremours for some time on the mountain. We are deeply sorry for the lives of local Chilean residents that have been lost in the quake. For those interested in affected and unaffected areas, please click here

Other headlines of interest around the Chile quake are as follows. Click on each header for details:-

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED                                                                    TOP OF PAGE

1) Can we do a walking safari in Tanzania? Yes, you can. We have a number of walking safari tours around Empakai highlights, Lake Natron etc. from 7-10 days.

2) Can we go to Machu Picchu ruins by helicopter? No you cannot. There was a proposal made to the cultural institute to allow this until such time as the ruins re-open but it was rejected.

3) When will Machu Picchu re-open to the public? At the moment, the official word is that it will reopen on 1 April 2010. However authorities are working hard to get the rail links repaired before that.
