1)What
happens to all the rubbish on
Kilimanjaro? (We
have had a similar question about
this once before, when we were asked
why there are no dustbins on the
mountain). All the rubbish on
Kilimanjaro has to be carried off
the mountain by your support crew.
Food is weighed at each camp on the
way up, and a certain amount of
"weight" in rubbish is expected to
come off the mountain. As such, you
will notice at Millennium Camp on
the descent, that there is a hut where "rubbish" is weighed. If a team
leader/guide is found to leave
litter on the mountain, he is fined.
2)
My husband
and his friends are doing Marangu
route. Is there a short trek I can
do while I wait for them or safari
option? Yes, there are
two great options for you. if you
want a trek but don't want to go to
summit of Kilimanjaro, you can join
them for the first 1, 2 or 3 days of
their trek and then come back down.
You can then tag on a 4, or 5 day
safari to Ngorongoro and Serengeti.
3)
Do your
overland tours through Tibet have a
maximum age limit?
No they do not. Anyone who is
fit to travel, can do them. However,
as you are at high altitude and
dependant on your age, we may ask
that you get medical clearance from
your practitioner first as you will
be reaching an altitude of 5400m.
