have been re-opened following the 2 month closure ahead of the 50 year

Popcorn section of the Khumbu Ice Fall
Collapses delaying Everest Summits: 21 April 2009
- A large chunk of ice collapsed in the Khumbu Icefall while over 100
Sherpas were heading up to Camp II. This section of the Khumbu Icefall is
manned by a group of highly specialised Sherpas called the Icefall
Doctors, who each year, diligently lay the safest route out for summit
climbers. The section is precarious and volatile with massive seracs and is
treacherous at the best of times. No casualties were reported, but the route
was blocked for most of the day.
Swine
flu hits Mexico: As of 28 April 2009, all public buildings to include
the major sights, i.e.. temple complexes, churches, cathedrals, have been
closed to the public as a result of the outbreak of Swine Flu. Subsequent to
the outbreak we have cancelled all tours to Mexico and are refunding clients
who have booked tours, 100% of tour fees until further notice.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

1)
If I miss my flight into Rwanda, can I move my Gorilla Trek to the next day?
Unfortunately not.
Gorilla in
Rwanda
are tracked from the Parc National des Volcans which currently has 7
Gorilla groups and thus only 56 permits are available per day. Each
family of Gorilla are exposed to one, 1 hour visit per day. Only if permits
are not sold out for the next day will it be possible to still visit them,
however, you will be charged an additional $500 for the permit, as a permit
cannot be carried forward.
2)
I want to visit Chile to see the crash of Perito
Moreno Glacier?
When does this occur?
The Perito Moreno is one of the few advancing glaciers in the
world, moving by up to 2m, a day. Its' great collapse comes on average,
every 4 years, between March and July. It is hard to predict the exact
date when it will occur. It last collapsed in July of 2008 so the next
great collapse is expected in 2012.
3) I want to do the Advanced Everest Base trek but am very confused
about what permits I need to buy as I have been told I need a few? How
do I get them? First of all, yes you do need different
permits but you cannot get them, we apply for them on your behalf. If
you fly into Lhasa, you need a Tibet Travel Permit which is given to
your guide and who will retain it during your journey. If your trip will
take you out of Lhasa to unopened areas like Gyantse or Tsedang, you
need an Aliens Travel Permit, which we obtain. For regions like Mt
Kailash, you may also need a Military permit. Note that you cannot
travel into Lhasa without having a Tibet Travel Guide with you, who will
hold all paperwork in the event of inspections along the way. So in
short, we obtain all the necessary permits for you.
