Following on the success of our
cleanup operations on Kilimanjaro,
we plan to start a similar trip
in Nepal, to
Everest Base Camp proper.

December 2009:
Arrive Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel
18 December
2009: Full
day guided sightseeing of the Kathmandu valley
19 December
2009: Kathmandu (1,310m) - Lukla (2,840m). Trek to Phakding (2,610m). (2-3
hours).
Our morning trek begins
with a flight into Lukla - a lifetime experience. The airfield is on a
slope and the difference between the two ends of the runway is about 60
meters! We start the Everest base camp trek for a few hours along the Dudh
Kosi River to the village of Phakding 2,610m & Camp overnight.
20 December 2009: Phakding -
Namche bazaar (3,440m). (5 hours)
The trek today takes us
through a magnificent forest of rhododendron, magnolia trees and giant
firs, as we head up toward Namche. After a steep descent and another steep
climb through the forest we reach our camp for overnight.
21 December 2009: Namche bazaar
(Acclimatization day)
We will spend a day to
help acclimatization. You are welcome to go on a day hike in the area.
Camp overnight.
22 December 2009: Namche to
Tengboche (3,860m) (5 hrs)
With incredible views of the
Thamserku we steadily descend to the Imja Khola where we see a series of
water driven prayer wheels. Later, we ascend to Tengboche Monastery
(3,860m) - one of the most beautiful places in the world. Camp
overnight.
23 December 2009: Tengboche to Pheriche
(4,312m) (5 hrs)
Continuing up the Imja Khola valley,
we head towards the summer village of Pheriche (4,260m). Camp overnight.
24 December 2009: Pheriche to Lobuche
(4,920m) (4-5 hrs)
After ascending a small ridge we
contour around the base of Khumbu Glacier. After lunch, we head off on a
steep ascent to the terminal moraine of the glacier and onto the foot off
the Lobuche Ice Fall (4,930m). Camp overnight.
25 December 2009: Lobuche to Gorakshep
(5,140m) (4 hrs)
Today is a short trekking day to
Gorek Sherpa. Hike up Kala Patthar for magnificent sunset views of
Everest. Return to Gorkeshep. Camp overnight.
26 December 2009: Gorekshep to
Everest Base Camp
(5,545m) Trek up to Everest Base Camp at the foot of the Khumbu Ice
Falls. Start cleanup operations at Base Camp. Overnight at base camp.
27 December 2009: Base Camp
cleanup
Continue with cleanup operations
at base camp. All waste will be loaded into bags for removal by our team
of porters. Camp overnight.
28 December 2009: Base camp to
Lobuche
Today we retrace out steps back to
Lobuche for our overnight stop.
Camp overnight.
29 December 2009: Lobuche to Namche
(3,440m) (4 hrs)
We head off on a long descent down
the right flank of the Dudh Kosi valley to Namche. Camp overnight.
30 December 2009: Namche to Phakding
(2,610m). (3-4 hours)
We head down along the gorge of the
Dudh Kosi to the village of Phakding. Camp overnight.
31 December 2009: Day 15: Phakding to Lukla
(2,840m) (3 hrs)
Today, we head to the
little airstrip of Lukla where we camp overnight.
