1) How long in advance do I need to book a mountain biking tour? This all depends on flight availability for the fight from Kathmandu to Lhasa, which in high season tends to book up quite early. As such, a good three months ahead of the tour is advisable. (Note that for other tours it depends on where permits and internal flight are needed. If no permits and flights are needed, we can take a booking up to 3 weeks prior to start date.)
2) I have heard that the Maoists are a problem on the Everest Base Camp Trek? Is this the case? You have probably read reports from several years ago when the Maoists used to stop trekkers near Phakding and demand a 5000 rupee payment. Agreements between the Government and the Maoist leaders have put a stop to this, so there is no longer a problem.
3) Can I trek in denims on Kilimanjaro? It is not advisable to, as denims tend to trap the cold in addition, if you get rain on any of the days will become very wet and difficult to dry. It is better to trek in wickable trekking pants that wick away the moisture and are comfortable to trek in.
