QUESTIONS ANSWERED

1) Are
there mountain gorilla on Kilimanjaro? No,
there are not. There are several species of gorilla, such as the Western
lowland gorilla which lives in Camaroon, Congo, Guinea, Gabon, Nigeria and
The Central African Republic, and the eastern lowland gorilla or "Grauer's"
gorilla which lies up to about 2440masl in Congo, Rwanda and Uganda, but the
Mountain Gorilla, is only found in high altitude zones up to about 3400masl
in the mountains of the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo. You will
however, see a number of monkeys in the forest such as the Black and White
Colbus.

2)
I have heard that
you are not allowed to take trekking poles on the Inca Trail. This
is not strictly correct. You can, the only requirement is that the stick
must not have a metal tip so if your trekking pole does not have a rubber
stopper on it, you need to fit one. They are easily obtained in Cuzco. Tour

3)
I am looking for a 4x4 tour in Nepal where I can drive up to the base of
the Himalayas. What tour can you offer? The Himalayas are the
highest and one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world. They
extends from west to east for about 2,500 km in a curve along the borders
of India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, and Tibet. The width of the Himalayas
varies from 100 - 400 km and is subdivided into the various zones
according to altitude. Driving to the base of the mountains in Nepal is
not really possible, not as much as it is from the Tibetan side where one
can literally drive to Everest Base Camp. To get to the mountains
in Nepal often require about 4 days of trekking. If you are happy to do
some trekking, then you could fly into Lukla, trek two day to Namche, and
then spend a week basking in the mountains of the Himalayas. Otherwise,
head for Tibet and drive to base camp or Mt Kailash.
