GROUPS TO JOIN - If you are looking for people
to join you or want to join a group, let us know and we will list it here.
High Sight Adventure Expedition 2009
In March / June 2009 28 climbers, 14 vision
impaired participants (VIP) and 14 sighted will attempt to break the record for the number of
vision impaired climbers to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. 14 of
these climbers will come from Australia and New Zealand, and the other 14
from South Africa.
We are honoured to be involved and partly
sponsor the High
Sight Adventure Expedition to Kilimanjaro, a joint venture between
South Africa and Australia, set up by
Stephen Hilton-Barber from Brisbane.
The organisation is looking for people to
pair with the VIP's for the climb as well as any donations and/or
sponsorships for the group. The charities being represented are an
Australian organisation for the blind and the Horizon Farm Trust / S A
National Council for the Blind. If anyone is interested, please
email us

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

1)
When is the best time to travel to Easter Islands?
Tours here can be done all year around though June and July tend
to be a little wet.
Tour itinerary
2) Do we need to take anti-malarials in the Chitwan (Nepal) in December?"
This is a low malaria time as it is mid winter in Nepal at this time of
year and so temperatures are a lot cooler than mid year when the risk is
higher. In addition, Chitwan has a low overall
malaria risk, so it should not be necessary. However, please also ask
advice from your travel doctor.

3) I would like to climb Mt
Meru. Is it better to go before or after Kilimanjaro?
Mt Meru is best climbed as an acclimitisation trek prior to
climbing Kilimanjaro. In addition, most people (including us) have found
Mt Meru a disappointment after Kilimanjaro, so we recommend to "save the
best till last" and do Meru first.
