YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED                                                                                        TOP OF PAGE
1) I have heard that on Aconcagua one has to "carry loads." Can this be avoided? Yes, there are various routes up Aconcagua. The one we use is the Normal Route and we make use of Porters and Mules to carry the loads from camp to camp, which saves you the time in carrying gear from one camp to the next and doing "double treks". However, you would still carry your own clothing and sleeping back from camp to camp, about 15-25kg depending on how much you take along. Alternately, you can also hire a porter to carry your pack fro you. Tour itinerary

2) I would like to do the Everest Base camp trek and have heard that you can climb above base camp. Is this correct? Partly yes and no. If you are planning and standard everest base camp trek on the Nepal (South) side, then no, you cannot go above base camp unless you plan to make a summit attempt. However, on the North Face (from Tibet) you can trek as high as Camp III with an additional permit, i.e. 4 camps above base camp. This is known as the Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek and  takes you to 6340m as opposed to 5545m on the South Side. Tour itinerary

3) Do we need crampons if we trek to Everest Base Camp? No, you should not need crampons unless you plan on going via Goyko Lakes and Renjo pass in the snow season, i.e. November, December, then it is highly recommended that you take crampons. This Renjo Pass  region should really be avoided in December anyway, because of the likelihood of heavy snow falls. Tour itinerary
