1) I
do not have any technical climbing experience with ropes etc in snow, but
am keen to try something. What can you offer? Island Peak in
Nepal, stands at 6160m and involves one day of technical climbing with
fixed ropes, harnesses, ice picks and crampons. But the beauty of this
trek is that you don't need any prior technical expertise as the lines are
fixed by the guides and with some training on the use of equipment, you
head for summit. The rest of the trek can be done to incorporate Everest
Base Camp itself. The peak was used quite often by Everest climbers to
practice on, pre summit attempt. Tour

2) I have
heard that the Inca Trail is closing? This is not entirely
correct. The Inca Trail is closed to the public in February of each year,
purely for maintenance purposes. The area receives a lot of rain from
December to early march and as such, this time is used to maintain the
paths, facilities etc. The trail re-opens to the public again from 1st
March of each year. Tour

3) How long
in advance do we need to book on the Inca Trail? The numbers of people
allowed on the trail was restricted to 500 per day in 2005, to
include guides and porters. As such, it can booked up to 2 months in
advance and so you need to make your reservation to secure an Inca Trail permit,
a good 3 months in advance. Tour
