YOUR
QUESTIONS ANSWERED
TOP OF PAGE
1) I have heard
that the Olympic games next year will negatively affect all travel
to Tibet. Is this true? The
Olympics are definitely going to have an impact for Tibet in 2008. We have
already found a massive price increase for all accommodation in Tibet and
will have to pay premium rates to accommodate clients. There are rumors
that the routes to Base camp will be blocked to tourists but at this
point, they are just rumours.
2) I
am very keen to do the base camp trek and then spend a day on the Khumbu
ice falls, Please quote me for two people? Unfortunately, one
cannot trek above base camp on the South Face of Everest. All trekkers
venturing onto the Khumbu falls are required to have a summit permit.
However, if you wish to go above base camp you can do so from the North
Face, the Tibetan side, where as a non-summiteer you can trek up to 6400m
to Camp III, or advanced base camp.

3) Can
I leave extra luggage behind at the hotel (Kilimanjaro trek), or will the
porters also carry that for me? Yes, on all of our tours that involve
trekking or climbing, you can leave your normal travel bags behind in
lock-up at the hotel where it will be safe.
