BRAZIL LUXURY AMAZON TOUR

LUXURY BRAZIL ITINERARY

Around the Pantanal, Manaus and the Amazon basin, you can expect rain all year round. The only respite may be between June and September when the rains tend to stop. The rains are heaviest here between March and August. Rio and the area around Foz de Iguaçú do not have any distinct rainy seasons.

Day 1. Rio de Janeiro

Arrival in Rio , reception and transfer to the 5* Copacabana Palace Hotel, one of the world's greatest hotels.

The city of Rio is famous for its spectacular natural setting, the Carnival celebrations, the samba, hotel-lined tourist beaches, and the easy-going lifestyle of its inhabitants. Rio also boasts the world's largest forest inside an urban area, called 'Tijuca Forest'.(BLD)

 

Day 2. Rio de Janeiro

After breakfast, a full day visit of the “marvellous city” including a sightseeing tour to Sugar Loaf Mountain. The spectacular Sugarloaf Mountain , rises to an altitude of 396 metres (1300ft) from the water's edge of Guanabara Bay. A two-stage cable car takes you to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain where you will enjoy a splendid view of Rio , Copacabana Beach, and Guanabara Bay.

 

After lunch, a trip to the heart of Rio for a historical city tour including Santa Teresa, the Teatro Municipal and the Fine Arts Museum. The trip also includes a visit to the São Bento Monastery, the Candelaria (the candle-makers), Praça XV (where the royal family landed when they first arrived in Rio . Paço Imperial was their first residence), the "Travessa do Mercado", the Imperial Palace, the cultural centre located in the beautifully-restored Banco do Brasil and Casa Franca-Brazil (a masterpiece by the architect Grandjean de Montigny). Return to your hotel and dinner at the Pergula restaurant. (BLD)

 

Day 3. Rio de Janeiro

After breakfast, a half day visit to Corcovado, the mountain home to the world famous, Christo de Redentor statue for a magnificent 360° panoramic view of Rio. 

 

After, a trip to the Tijuca forest, considered the largest urban forest in the world. It has 330 square kms of preserved Mata Atlântica ( Tropical Forest ), the highest mountaintops of Rio , waterfalls and hidden caves. 


Another important point is the great variety of bromeliads. The Forest is considered to hold the largest concentration of different species of bromeliads in Brazil . It is also home to hundreds of species of plants and wildlife, many threatened by extinction, found only in the Atlantic Rainforest.

 

Return for lunch and an afternoon of leisure to enjoy the magnificent Rio city.Dinner at an international restaurant. (BLD)

 

Day 4. Rio de Janeiro

A full day private visit by boat to the tropical islands around Rio . The tropical islands that permeate Sepetiba Bay , are a natural paradise situated only a few short kilometres from the city.

 

During the cruise, there will be stops for swimming on semi-desert beaches to give even more charm to this fabulous tour.  After lunch, there is free time to enjoy the beach on the island. Board of the schooner for your return to Itacuruçá and return to Rio . Dinner. (BLD)

 

Day 5. Rio de Janeiro - Iguaçú

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Iguaçú falls. Reception and transfer to the fabulous setting of the first class Tropical Das Cataratas Hotel, an elegant colonial-style hotel located inside the Iguaçú National Park itself. Dinner at the hotel.(BLD)

 

Day 6. Iguaçú

Full day excursion of the Iguaçú falls, the most voluminous falls in the world and more than three times the width of the Niagara Falls . The falls cascade in a horseshoe crescent over nearly 3.2km of the Iguaçú River . The Falls are the result of a volcanic eruption. During the rainy season of November - March, the rate of flow of water going over the falls may reach 450,000 cubic feet (12,750 cubic m) per second. The falls lie on the three borders of Brazil , Argentina and Paraguay.

 

The tour will include a Macuco safari boat ride  Return to your hotel. (BLD)

 

Day 7. Iguaçú – Argentinean Side

Today, you will cross the border and enter Argentina for a closer view of these magnificent falls. Set in a subtropical rain forest reserve of over 180,000 hectares, Iguaçú is home to jaguars, pumas, caiman and over 400 species of bird. It also offers a chance of seeing the falls close up. Return to Brazil and your hotel. (BLD)

 

Day 8. Iguaçú to Sao Poalo to Manaus

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Sao Paulo and your connecting flight to Manaus  north-west Brazil and capital of Amazonas State. Located on the Negro River near its confluence with the Amazon, it is the chief port and a hub for the region's extensive river system. Transfer to your hotel, the 5* Hotel Tropical Manaus. Dinner. (BLD)

 

Day 9. Manaus to Ariau Towes

After breakfast, pick up from your hotel to the heliport for the 15 minute helicopter ride to Ariau Towers, an ecological resort built on stilts in the waters of the Rio Negro, literally in the middle of nowhere. This hotel is built among the Amazon treetops: with catwalks 21m above the ground leading from a great circular dining room of polished tropical wood. Monkeys, macaws, sloths, and parrots are found throughout this incredible luxurious tree top Amazonian resort.  (BLD)

 

Day 10. Ariau Towers

After breakfast, a jungle trek with Biologist guides.(BLD)

 

Day 11. Ariau Towers

After breakfast, a canoe ride to the native Acajatuba Village and Praia Grande. Lunch at the hotel followed by an Igarapé and Igapó ride through the river system of the Amazon.  (BLD)

 

Day 12. Ariau to Manaus to Sao Paulo

This morning, we head out on an early sunrise tour over the magnificent Amazon jungle before breakfast. We then return to Manaus by helicopter and transfer to the airport for your flight to Sao Paulo and your return flight home (BLD)
