18 May 2012: Guided sightseeing around of the Kathmandu valley.

19 May 2012: Flight: Kathmandu (1,310m) - Lukla (2,840m). Trek to Phakding (2,610m).

Our early morning trek to Everest Base Camp begins with a flight into Lukla - is a lifetime experience, in itself. The airfield is on a slope and the difference between the two ends of the runway is about 60 meters! We start the everest base camp trek for a few hours along the Dudh Kosi River to the village of Phakding 2,610m.

20 May 2012: Phakding (2,610m)  Namche bazaar (3,440m).

The trek takes us through a magnificent forest of rhododendron, magnolia trees and giant firs, as we head up toward Namche. After a steep descent and another steep climb through the forest

22 May 2012: Namche bazaar (Acclimatization 3,440 m)

We will spend time here on short treks to acclimatize.

22 May 2012: Namche to Tengboche (3,860m)

With incredible views of the Thamserku we steadily descend to the Imja Khola where we see a series of water driven prayer wheels. Later, we ascend to Tengboche Monastery (3,860m) - one of the most beautiful places in the world.

23 May 2012: Tengboche to Pheriche (4,312m)

Continuing up the Imja Khola valley, we trek towards the summer village of Pheriche (4,260m).

24 May 2012: Pheriche to Lobuche (4,920m)

After ascending up a small ridge we contour around the base of Khumbu Glacier. After lunch, we start trekking on a steep ascent to the terminal moraine of the glacier and onto the foot off the Lobuche Ice Fall at the base of Everest (4,930m).

25 May 2012: Lobuche to Gorekshep (5,140m)

This is a short trek as we head to Gorekshep not far from Everest Base Camp.

26 May 2012: Hike up to Kalapatthar (5,545m). Return to Gorekshep

We will head off early morning up Kala Patthar for breathtaking views of Everest. We then return and stay overnight at Gorekshep.

27 May 2012: Trek to Everest Base Camp, 6 km approx

Today we will trek to the Everest Base Camp below the notorious Khumbu Icefall! The Base Camp is a lively place during the high expedition season. The trail to the camp passes over rocky dunes, moraines and streams where a great view of the Khumbu Icefall awaits you. Treading upon the icefall can be quite tricky as trails change each year due to glacial movement, so pay special heed to follow the lead Sherpa. The walk is quite strenuous due to the high altitude and thin air but worth it. Overnight in tent.

28 May 2012: Practice run at Everest Base Camp.

Getting High: It’s not always a difficult climb as one would imagine it to be like while trekking in the Himalayas. The Base Camp is a great spot to spend the day with some of the world's highest peaks soaring above you, some more than 7000m. One can often hear the crackle of the glacier and avalanches nearby. We will have a practice race for a short distance after breakfast, fully attired in the official marathon t-shirt and number. During afternoon great number of Nepali runners will join us for the marathon. Overnight in tent.

29 May 2012: Everest Marathon Race day!

After an early morning breakfast and final briefings the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon (full version) will start at seven. Simultaneously the half version of the event will take off from Dingboche (4410m/14800ft). Days of trekking and acclimatization should make you feel fit and

dandy by now, but of course it is more than just a downhill run. Running the world’s highest marathon course in the Himalayas that passes through high altitude rocky moraines, meadows, Sherpa hamlets, clunky wooden bridges and past Buddhist stupas, prayer flags and yaks is surely challenging and equally enthralling! The thrill lasts all the way down to Namche Bazaar! Nothing compares to running this marathon at the foot of Everest! Overnight in lodge.

30 May 2012: Namche to Phakding (2,610m).

We trek down along the gorge of the Dudh Kosi to the small village of Phakding.

31 May 2012: Phakding to Lukla (2,840m)

We walk through town to the little airstrip of Lukla.

1 June 20125: Flight: Lukla (2,840m) - Kathmandu (1,310m).

2 June 2012: Leisure.

3 June 2012: Departure.
